Why This Biome is Important and Why it Should Be Protected
Coral reefs are some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. They have many important tasks that can make or break and ecosystem. They protect coast lines from the affects from serious waves and storms. They also provide habitat and shelter for many organisms and there is a great source of nutrients for the marine food chain and takes place in nutrient recycle. Reefs are also very important because Fishing industries rely greatly on them in order to catch the fish that live in and around the corals. The Coral Reefs are also very big part of scientific testing and study as well as a huge economic generator as it brings in millions of dollars and tourism.
If you reduce biodiversity eventually it will lead to the breakdown of the ecosystem. Healthy ecosystems are very important because because they provide us with many natural resources including food and drugs. They also provide us with high species diversity and provide us with important national parks and tourist sites.
These should be protected because we need the things the corals reefs supply us with. We need the food and we need the medical drugs in order to survive our daily lives. With the killing of the reefs it is killing millions of organisms and maybe even us.
